Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 8:1-11. Running to the arms of Jesus is where we will find salvation and protection. More than the immediate safety and peace, we can also obtain wisdom.
“Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
2 At the highest point along the way,
where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
3 beside the gate leading into the city,
at the entrance, she cries aloud:
4 “To you, O people, I call out;
I raise my voice to all mankind.
5 You who are simple, gain prudence;
you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.[a]
6 Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say;
I open my lips to speak what is right.
7 My mouth speaks what is true,
for my lips detest wickedness.
8 All the words of my mouth are just;
none of them is crooked or perverse.
9 To the discerning all of them are right;
they are upright to those who have found knowledge.
10 Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

Choose instruction over riches
God has laid before us the choices in life. Do we choose blessing or curses (Deuteronomy 11:26)? We can be one that hears the voice and instruction of God or one that chooses to block our His words and instruction.
The choice is ours, but God graciously offers us the opportunity. God has trustworthy and truthful instructions for us. He wants us to live a life of peace and blessing upon this earth. This life comes with certain requirements that God wants to help us to understand.
God has said that obtaining wisdom is more precious than gold, silver, and rubies. Wisdom is more valuable as it talks beyond the here and now. Wisdom provides discernment of truth and lies and provides the pathway of eternal life!

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, for Your wisdom. Thank You that You offer it freely to all that will stop to learn from You. Your wisdom leads to eternal life and a life of blessing and peace. Please give me Your wisdom and understanding.
