Daily Devotional – Warning for Adulterous Woman

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 7:21-27. Society today paints a bold and attractive portrait of adulterous women. Main media streams are filled with women portraying a character found in Proverbs 7. God warns us against being this woman.

“With persuasive words she led him astray;
    she seduced him with her smooth talk.
22 All at once he followed her
    like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer[a] stepping into a noose[b]
23     till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
    little knowing it will cost him his life.

24 Now then, my sons, listen to me;
    pay attention to what I say.
25 Do not let your heart turn to her ways
    or stray into her paths.
26 Many are the victims she has brought down;
    her slain are a mighty throng.
27 Her house is a highway to the grave,
    leading down to the chambers of death.”

Highway to the grave

Successful business people today are often described as being persuasive. They use their words to create and paint a picture of why you need their product or service. They convince us to pledge allegiance to their brands and follow them. Like an ox, we are coaxed into our own downfall.

Women are not encouraged by God to use our persuasive traits and natural skills. Whether we cause men to fall or other women, be warned to lead others down a path that will bring destruction and death.

Let us use this perfect time in our country and world to lead by example. While so many are threatening and hateful, let our words and actions be those of love, compassion, and grace. Jesus has called us to give the other cheek, Matthew 5:39.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for creating the pathway to life. A life that is full of joy and peace! Help me by Your Holy Spirit to speak the truth in love and forsake my desire to persuade and convince others. As I speak and act with love and compassion, may You be glorified and honored.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
