Researching your destination and travel arrangements should be the first step you take when you plan a holiday. This research is even more important if you are travelling abroad or intend to be away for a long period of time.

The place you visit needs to be safe and cater to all your requirements. It’s important to find out as much as possible about flights to the destination, accommodation and travel options before you travel. Most destinations have a large number of websites and web pages dedicated to them. You can also find reviews and recommendations for most destinations through a simple web search. To dig deeper, many social media pages and over 50’s forums are available that give information about the best places to visit and stay.

Most travel service providers have their own websites or feature on price comparison websites. Many websites like include search options for a range of hotels. This makes it much easier to choose the appropriate accommodation for your trip.


Once you have decided on your destination, it’s time to create a checklist for your trip. There are many items and tasks you have to account for when you travel. This is even more important if you are in another country.
