Daily Devotional – True Worship in the Grocer’s

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 4: 20-26. Some of my most joyful life experiences were spent in the presence of God. For me, it was my Suburban. Many mornings I would drop my children off at school and come home and sit in my garage, literally for hours. I know that sounds very odd, but I would listen to praise and worship music on the way home and before I knew it, God was in the suburban with me.

“Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

I learned that God is present in the midst of praise and worship. It does not have to be just at church. It can be in your home, in your closet or in your car. It can be wherever and whenever you want to lift Him up in praise and adoration.

I absolutely love going to the grocery store. Some see it as a chore. Not me. I walk down the aisles and thank and praise Him. Before you know it, my legs are weak, my eyes are tearing, and I am having a church in the frozen food section. I am not kidding. Try it. The next time you go shopping for food, or anything else, just start praising Him. I can promise you, you will begin to feel His presence in a tangible way. For me, as I said, I felt His tangible love: no worries, no concerns, no stress, just pure love. God is with you where ever you go. Praise Him and watch where he will show himself to you.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

I want to experience your presence in a new way. I want to go to the next level spiritually in my own personal time of devotion. Help me Lord to feel your presence wherever I am, knowing without a doubt, you are there with me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
