Daily Devotional – The Triumphant Entry

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 12:12-16. Have you ever taken part in a parade? I’ve not yet been in the parade, but being part of the parade, and celebrating those on show is always an exciting day!

“The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13 They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,

“Hosanna![d]

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[e]

“Blessed is the king of Israel!”

14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

15 “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
    see, your king is coming,
    seated on a donkey’s colt.”[f]

16 At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.”

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Jesus was elevated and put on display by His Father. While those that celebrated the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem didn’t comprehend the full story of God, they knew that Jesus was to be celebrated.

The one that performed miracles and displayed compassion, helped those lower on the societal rung. Not concerned with human status, Jesus reached out to those with the need. Demonstrating the love and power of the Father, Jesus was the presence of God Almighty!

When we follow the word of God, we see how humans always seem to have a short-term view in mind. God looks beyond the temporary making an impact on eternity. Let us consider the eternal view in all the situations that we find ourselves in.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You giving us Jesus. How I wish that I could have been there celebrating the entrance of Jesus. Today I will worship and exalt the name of Jesus.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
