Daily Devotional – Thankful for Salvation

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Chronicle 16:19-27. In the parable from Luke 7:40-47, Jesus asks Simon about “which of them will love him more?” Simon answered the same as we would today, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”

“When they were but few in number,
    few indeed, and strangers in it,
20 they[d] wandered from nation to nation,
    from one kingdom to another.
21 He allowed no one to oppress them;
    for their sake he rebuked kings:
22 “Do not touch my anointed ones;
    do my prophets no harm.”

23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth;
    proclaim his salvation day after day.
24 Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

25 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
    he is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
    but the Lord made the heavens.
27 Splendor and majesty are before him;
    strength and joy are in his dwelling place.”

Saved for life

Have you been saved from much? While we may look at those saved from drugs and alcohol addiction in wonder, what have you been saved from? We are all one decision away from a life full of heartbreak and horror.

I am thankful to God for saving me many years ago as a younger child. His laws and ways saved me from making many poor decisions. Jesus saved me not only from eternal life without Him but so that I could have a life upon earth!

The greatest thing I am thankful for today is my salvation! Jesus’ sacrifice and His grace made a way for me to receive salvation from what I could not do myself. I am thankful for the grace of my salvation. I would be lost without the grace that made my salvation possible.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for Your death on the cross and paying for my salvation. Your grace has opened the way for my salvation. Help me today and every other day to value and appreciate my salvation accordingly.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
