Daily Devotional – Thankful for Love

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 89:1-8. I am thankful for the great love of God. It caused Him to reach down to earth and provide a savior for all of us. His actions pushed beyond the pain to see the greater reward!

“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
    with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
    through all generations.
² I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
    that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
³ You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
    I have sworn to David my servant,
⁴ ‘I will establish your line forever
    and make your throne firm through all generations.’”^[c]

⁵ The heavens praise your wonders, Lord,
    your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
⁶ For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
    Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
⁷ In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
    he is more awesome than all who surround him.
⁸ Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?
    You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.”

You are God’s reward

If it were not for love, then Jesus would not have come as the sacrifice. If there is love then there is hate, and I am glad that I am the recipient of love rather than hate. 

I have received so much because of God’s love, and I choose to reciprocate it towards others. At sometimes great cost, I love and sacrifice my personal comforts for those around me. My reward is seeing the joy and smile on the faces of those that I love.

We are God’s great reward. He created us for Himself and because of Jesus’ blood, the Father could draw near to us again. He so loves us that he sacrificed Jesus. 

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for Your death on the cross. Your sacrifice was due to Your great love and affection for Your creation. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to have a love similar to Yours for all of those around me.
