Daily Devotional – I Stand Confidently Weak

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Corinthians 12: 6-10. We live in a world where everyone is ready to toot their own horn. People are so ready to show off their accomplishments and achievements. I choose to show you my weakness.

Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Weakness opens the door for God

What we think to be our greatest strength turns out to be our greatest weakness. If I am confident in my own abilities and skills, I do not need to rely on God to bring victory. In this situation, I solely rely on my own strength, knowledge, and abilities to achieve my desires. I push on with my own efforts because I think that I can handle it!

Quickly, I find myself handicapped by what I thought was my greatest strength. I need to surrender and submit myself before God’s grace. God is more than capable and able to do all that is needed.

Rather than standing before others proudly. We need to kneel beside them. God will bring about His will and His plans, with or without us. We need to be humble, acknowledging our real weakness in comparison to God’s strength. As we serve others, may we see the glory in our weakness and God’s strength magnified by our humility!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

gifts or mom

I come before You today humbled by You and Your works. When I look to the heavens and across the face of the earth I see Your hands work. You are the most capable! I want to get out of Your way and let You bring Your plans to light in this world. May You receive all the glory!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
