Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 12: 1-5. Raising hands is a gesture of surrender. We are acknowledging that our ways are not right and are asking for grace and mercy.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. “
May your faith arise as you surrender before God. As you lay down your efforts and surrender your strength, you will need to rely on God in greater measures. Your level of faith is measured by your level of dependence on God. When you find yourself crying out to God as your “final resort”, your faith levels will rise.
As you see God move and bring about life and miracles in your situation, your faith will be confirmed. You will know the why behind your sacrifice and arms lifted high.
Let us not conform to this world who raise their arms and fists in war. Our raised hands should be a sign of our surrender. We surrender to God’s will and greater plan for His Kingdom.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You today submissive. In faith, I am submitting my will and desires to You and Your will. May You take the lead in my life. Be glorified through my life as You achieve Your will.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
