Daily Devotional – Seek God’s Righteousness

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 6:28-34. We are encouraged by Jesus to seek and strive for the righteousness flowing from the throne of God. In order to seek righteousness, it will take an effort.

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Righteousness is a process and path.

We have a choice of what to chase and seek. We can either put our efforts into obtaining the physical needs of this earth, or we can battle everything and every supernatural power to live a life of purpose for eternity.

For so many, they claim the mercy of God as their crutch for a sinful and self-seeking lifestyle. The Bible has so clearly laid out that we need to struggle and toil to live a righteous life. Living a righteous life is not easy at all!

So let us rise to the challenge in faith. We can confidently apply ourselves and our sweat knowing that God is faithful to pour out and take care of His side. It is a demonstration of faith when we take a stand upon righteousness as we wait on God’s mercy.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are trustworthy and faithful. I lay as a sacrifice before You, my righteous acts and decisions, so that You may be glorified. Not that I can earn my salvation, but that I can prove my love for You.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
