Daily Devotional – The Protection of God

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 91:1-10. We all need protection and a resting place from the world that is unceasing in its attacks. When life happens and we need to recover, beneath God’s wings of protection is the best place.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

fall scents for your home

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.”

The most secure place of rest is with God

The lie that we are alone and that no one cares is certainly not true. Even if every brother, sister, and friend abandons you like they did Jesus, He never will! Rather than pushing us away, Jesus pulls us closer into His arms to protect us.

So often we also believe the lie “if it’s meant to be, then it’s up to me!” God has promised us that instead of us fighting through, we will be a spectator to His wonderful workings. From beneath the wings of protection, we can peek out to watch God’s miracle!

We are loved and with that love comes protection. Let us make our safe space within the presence of God. The promise from God is that we will not be overtaken by all that rages around us as He protects us.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for loving me with Your protecting presence in my life. As I look over my life, I can see how You have protected me in love and for Your glory. Be exalted today as You work miracles in my life!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
