Daily Devotional – The Peace of God

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 14:25-34. Jesus has conquered and overcome it all. We have no need to fear death, the greatest fear of all, or anything else since Jesus sealed the victory.

“All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.”

Jesus has given us more than the world can

When we are confronted by lies and accusations, the first thing to flee is our peace. The truth from Jesus is that we can stand strong in His victory because of the peace that He has left us with.

The Holy Spirit has come to dwell among us on the earth to advocate the will and words of our Father. For those of us that are teachable, we have the greatest teacher that will share wisdom far greater than what the world can give.

We are warned that lies and accusations are coming. They are going to be continuous and draining on our strength and emotions. The first step to dealing with them though is to stay in peace. Not only does it help us to hear the words of God for instruction and guidance, but the peace will feed our strength.

Let’s Pray

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for leaving me with Your peace. It is a peace that knows no boundaries and is given from the throne of God in heaven. Overcome me with Your peace today and I seek Your face and Your teachings.

In Your Name,

Amen
