Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 14: 25-31. Before Jesus went to the cross and ascended to heaven, He told His disciples about what lay ahead. They did not want to hear the words about Jesus laying down His life or leaving them.
“All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

Jesus left us the Holy Spirit
Jesus spoke about His peace. He left His peace with the disciples. Jesus knew that no inner peace or other types of peace would be sufficient. We would need peace greater than any trouble or situations that could come against us. Peace transcends circumstances and those around you. This peace can only come from the author and creator of all things.
Not only did Jesus offer us His peace, but He sent the Holy Spirit to fill the earth. The Holy Spirit allows God to be in every situation and offer everyone His love and compassion. His time on the earth, Jesus had compassion on those that He interacted with personally. Jesus was in the thick of the situation and was there to lift the needy ones out from their mire. The Holy Spirit allows God to interact with us as Jesus did, on a global scale.
We are not alone. If we are in the love of Jesus, then we are part of the Father’s love. God by the Holy Spirit is here and tangible. We can relay our fears and concerns, and by the Holy Spirit, God can take compassion on us. Jesus is with us and Jesus is working in everything that we see and do.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, God, that You sent the Holy Spirit to impact Your world on a global scale. By Your spirit, You are with each one of us every day and in every situation. Help me to remember that You are with me and You are in every situation working. Give me Your peace today as I look to You my Father and God.
