Daily Devotional – Miracle of the Testament 12

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 6:5-13. God ensures that the animals and plants have all that they need to live and grow. If He provides abundantly for them, our Father will abundantly give us all that we need.

“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.”

God is our provider!

Jesus fed 5,000 men miraculously that day. With women and children, he provided nourishment for at least 15,000 people. Not even Mcdonald’s has that ability! From the love and compassion that Jesus had for those people, He stepped into high gear and provided.

Our Father has such love and compassion for us, that He sent Jesus to die for us. Going way and beyond the need for physical sustenance, God provided for salvation and freedom. In the same manner that He didn’t hold anything back in providing His best savior, He is going to provide for our every need!

Let us not lose hope and heart in difficult times. If God is your provider, then you will always have an abundance of His provision. Place your faith in Him for His provision in every area of your life, and wait on the miracles!

Let’s Pray

Thank you that You are my provider. You provide more than just the simple food and clothing, through Jesus You have provided all that I need to be restored and righteous.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
