Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Revelation 3: 17-22. Can you imagine being in the throne room of God? One day we will get there. What will be the greatest thing or question that you will have answered on that day?
“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.“
Living under the new covenant we have direct access to the throne room of God right now. We do not need to wait for that day in the future when we have passed from this world. Not only do we have access, but God is here right now, right in front of you, through His Spirit.
Jesus spoke often about the kingdom of God. He was questioned by His disciples and followers about when the kingdom of God would come. Oppressed and worn out, the Jewish people were longing for relief and new leadership.
When Jesus died, the barrier restricting the people from God’s presence was torn in half. The curtain outside the Holy of Holies was torn, welcoming us into God’s presence. His Kingdom had arrived! It may not have been the kingdom that everyone was hoping for, but it was the establishment of God’s throne room for all of us to come into.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, God, for making the way available for Your kingdom to be experienced on this earth as it is in heaven. Help me by Your Spirit to see you and be found in Your throne room today, and every other day of my life.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
