Daily Devotional – God’s Promises for 2023 #6

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 11:25-30. There are a few definite things in life. You will definitely face struggles and have burdens, and then we will all die on this earth.

“At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God promises us a light burden!

Do you carry around burdens from your past? Does your future paralyze and leave you frozen from fear? While life will be filled with challenging times, we do not need to shoulder these burdens ourselves.

God has given us the church, but most importantly Jesus, to share your concerns. We are not supposed to live life in isolation, but we are supposed to be dependent on each other. Not hiding away from the shame of our sins, we are released to freedom by Jesus.

The promise from our God and Father is that He will take on our burdens. He will replace the yoke that holds us down with the yoke of freedom that He bought. He wants us to surrender our lives completely to Him and that means all that weighs us down.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that Jesus has taken my place on the sacrificial alter, redeeming me to You. Today I switch out all these burdens that I have for the burden of being loved unconditionally by You!

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
