Daily Devotional – Forgiven to Forgive

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Luke 17: 1-5. As humans, we will make mistakes and cause pain and suffering to those around us. Intentional or unintentional, the pain is all the same.

“Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. 2 It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 So watch yourselves.

“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. 4 Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

Jesus forgave us, we should do the same

Jesus’ death paid the price for all our sins. He paid not only our sins toward the Father but our sins toward others. For all that we have done, that has caused pain to others was forgiven us by Jesus’ blood on the cross.

God has been so gracious toward us and forgiven us of all our wrongs in the past, present and future. The least that we could do is share this forgiveness. Forgiving those around you that have intentionally or unintentionally caused us harm and pain. Being human comes with the reality of sin. Everyone around you will sin against you to some degree.

Let’s get good at practicing forgiveness. Let our acts and attitudes resemble those that reflect Jesus and His fruit in our lives!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for Your death on the cross Jesus. You have forgiven me so much and I choose to forgive those around me. No matter the pain or justification, I will forgive because Your forgiveness can overcome every sin and action.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
