Daily Devotional – The Church Loves

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. This is a very well known portion of scripture. Paul goes on to discuss the qualities of love. Before he shares what love is, he reminds us that without love, everything that we do is worthless.

If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

Do you see love in the church?

When a man and woman come together as one, they come together in love. They throw aside all other relationships and commit to each other. They leave the house of their parents and create their own new home, where they will nurture a new family of their own.

fall scents for your home

Love can bring about such marvelous miracles and mysteries. The commitment of a married couple is the overflow from their love for each other. You can not be committed to someone that you do not love. Likewise, you will not love someone that you do not show commitment to.

The body of Christ and the church is not made up of buildings. Rather each person, like a jigsaw puzzle piece fits perfectly together to create the body. During the recent pandemic, the church has not been meeting in the fancy buildings that we have built. The church has continued to grow and encourage the members.

I challenge you today, to look at the level of love within the church. Jesus is coming back for a church that loves each other sacrificially. When last did you show your love for another part of the body of Christ?

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came as a token of love from the Father. You displayed true love for your creation by laying Your life down for our salvation. Help me by Your Spirit to well up with love inside for others. Please also show me who I can show Your love to today and each day.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
