Daily Devotional – We The Church and Bride

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 14:1-7. The Holy Spirit came to lead and comfort the church and body of Christ. He came to replace the physical presence of Jesus while He prepared heaven for His church!

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Jesus the Way to the Father

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

What the Church looks like

If we truly know Jesus, we would know Father God. We have seen Him and experienced the Almighty God. Jesus has told us that He would leave earth and prepare heaven for His church. As truly as He came to pay the cost for salvation, truly He will return as He said.

Jesus often compared His church to His bride. As a groom, Jesus is coming for His bride. He is looking to be joined together as one.

Are we the church prepared? What should the bride to the holiest and son of the Almighty King of kings look like?

Over the next few devotionals, we will look at the characteristics of the bride that Jesus is coming back for. We should consider that we are preparing ourselves for our savior’s return. No matter the hustle and bustle of life. No matter the emotional and spiritual bombardment that we are facing at present. We, the church and bride to Jesus Christ need to be ready for His glorious return.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You left for heaven to prepare our place in heaven. Thank you that You sent Your Holy Spirit to comfort and be with us. Help me as I look into the characteristics of Your bride, to become the one that You return for.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
