Three Ways to Improve Your Kitchen

Kitchen

Many people see the kitchen as the most important room in the home. Not only do you prepare food and serve meals from this hub, but it’s also a place where the family can get together and talk – maybe about what happened at school or work that day, or plan for the weeks, months, or years ahead as a family. You celebrate birthdays, holidays, and other milestones in your kitchen as well, even if that milestone is a first baking success.

So it’s unsurprising that, after a few years, your kitchen might be looking a bit tired. What do you do next? There are several different things you can do to make your kitchen look great and feel inviting again, no matter what your budget may be.

1 Clear the clutter

If you’ve had your kitchen for a few years, you’ve probably managed to collect a few things here and there beyond having just plates, bowls, and a few pans. It could be crockery the children no longer use, cookbooks that get used for inspiration all the time, or that smoothie maker you bought in the new year that’s now just gathering dust.

So clearing your tops will instantly make your kitchen look fresh. You don’t have to put everything away to do this, as you can make some items a feature in the room – such as putting decorative containers on floating shelves or installing a pot rack for those pans you use most days.

2 Make small changes to your hardware

There are many ways you can do this, depending on your budget and how confident you are about doing some of the more tricky work yourself. You’ll save some money and it will let you refresh items that still work well.

It can be something really small, such as adding or renewing drawer liners or adding wire shelves to your cabinets – which also give you an opportunity to clear cupboards and do a bit of reorganization at the same time. You could add some different soft furnishings, change light fittings or switch a tap fixture. They might not seem like they’ll make a big change to your kitchen, but they’ll give this room a very different feel.

If you’ve got larger modifications in mind, you could replace your worktops. Even updating your flooring will make an impact on how you see your kitchen space.

3 Do a kitchen refit

When was your current kitchen installed? If it was new when you moved into your home, and now it’s had many years of use, it might just be too tired or have too many faults for you to fix. Maybe it’s been like it since your children were little and they’ve now left home – your requirements may have changed over the years, so it’s a great opportunity for you to make those changes now.

Professional kitchen companies such as Gilmans Kitchens + Baths will work with you to make the most of the space in your kitchen. They will talk to you about the design of your new room, help you to choose cabinets based on your budget and install all your choices. All you have to do is decide what look you want and how much you want to spend.

Completely replacing your kitchen may cost a lot more than clearing your countertops or making small improvements to what you’ve already got. However, things get worn out, especially in busy hubs in the home, like our kitchens, so it might be worth spending a bit more cash to bring this space back up to the top standards you want it to be. Then you can start creating new memories all over again, including that first baking success.

Good tips! For the kitchen renovation, I will focus on a few elements: Lighting, backsplash, countertop and cabinets. After that, I would invest another money in the tech, but I would definitely start with this order.
