By Carol Doyel –

Want to take off 10 pounds instantly? Buy yourself a pair of “skinny” pants this season and add a complimentary top and “ta da“– 10 pounds lighter. Well at least in the mirror. But when you look good and feel good, it motivates you to want to look even better! You gals know what I’m talking about.

So how can a 50+ woman rock skinny jeans or pants. Well first, you have to start with a pair that compliments your body type as well as look and feel good on you. Here’s just a few of our fav’s:

fall scents for your home

Chico’s has a great selection designed specifically for a slimmer look, Oprah Magazine – February 2013 named them “All Around Best Slimming Jean”. Check out the great selection of tops and bottoms, including some great skinny ankle pants and regular length skinny jeans online at their “So Skinny Shop”.

With summer just ahead, a fitted ankle pant is perfect to pair with a summer tank or for a dresser or evening look check out these great metallic ankle pants at Cold Water Creek.  I love the silver color, which is great for all of you spring and summer toned women.

If you’re a curvier woman, we found these hot “plus size” pair at KarenKane.com, in Red! If you want more color check out the original SkinnyJeans®, made from classic denim with a high nylon/elastane content and designed to compliment just about any figure.

Want to get a bit more wild, check out these sophisticated stretch-cotton, animal print cropped pant at Ann Taylor. Personally I think the Sateen Cotton Peplum Shell at Ann Taylor would go great with the animal print cropped pant.

If you want to be pretty in pink check out the, Else skinny Jeans at Macy’s. Or for outright summer fun, check out these DKNY Jeans- Skinny Leg Tie-Dye style.

One way to wear skinny pant that can be very slimming and add vertical height, is to pair both leggings and skinny jeans -without pockets or that are too bulky at the top with a long shirt or short dress, like this Style&co. top with an empire-waist at Macy’s or with a blazer like the Grace Element Jacket, Paisley Print Jacket at Macy’s. Or if you want to show off your legs you can add layers with a waist length sweater over a tank/top like Cameron Diaz (insert photo).

Regardless of how you wear them, they’re bound to make your legs look longer and leaner so don’t be afraid to rock skinny jeans – because they’re not just for “skinny” girls.
