Nurturing Business and Personal Relationships

By Rachel Harpham –

The older I get, the more I realize how valuable our relationships are, both in business and in our personal lives. Sometimes though, it is daunting to try to keep up with all the people that matter to us. So many priorities pull on our time and often the urgent replaces the important. Without meaning to, we forget or miss opportunities to let people know how important they are and how much we appreciate having them in our lives.

As a business owner and entrepreneur, I know how important it is to nurture existing relationships as well as follow up with new prospects, but I often struggle to be consistent in my efforts. How do I show appreciation for existing clients, take time to nurture new relationships, and keep in touch with friends and family so they know how much I value them? Time seems to always be at a premium and finding ways to successfully manage relationships can become a challenge. My heart is to let people know how important they are to me, but often in the busyness of life, I don’t get to express what’s really in my heart.

I want to say thank you for business that comes my way, I want to wish a friend a happy birthday or celebrate a special couple on their anniversary, or just let a family member know how much I care about them. Once in a while I get a note sent or the birthday card off in time, but more often than not, I get too busy with what is currently in front me and I am left with nothing but my good intentions and a deep sense of frustration.

About a year ago a friend introduced me to an online greeting card system called SendOutCards and I fell in love. The small “touch” of receiving a heartfelt card really can make a difference in the lives of the people you care about. I now have an effective tool in my hands that simplifies and fulfills my desire to stay connected with the important people in my life. Now that I use SendOutCards, I am more fully able to express myself and my value for others. With SendOutCards, I consistently send “Thank You” notes to my business clients and “Nice to Meet You” cards when I connect with someone new at an event. I also send a “Discount Coupon” once or twice a year as a way to encourage repeat business, and through “Campaigns” I can send a note at Thanksgiving or Christmas to wish all my business clients a Happy Holiday at the touch of a button.

Now I rarely miss a birthday or anniversary of the special people in my life. When I spend a special time with friends or family they almost always get a Picture Plus 2.0 card that serves as a keepsake reminder full of pictures of our special time together. And because the cost of the SendOutCards is so affordable, it is now possible to send hundreds of SendOutCards in a year for the same price I used to spend on several dozen store bought greeting cards.

This past year lots of folks got a birthday card with a photo of me, my husband and my son, all in birthday hats, saying “Thinking of you on your birthday! You are important to us.”, and it is written in my very own handwriting font (just another feature of the SendOutCards system). People really appreciate this personal touch. When I create a card that expresses my heart to someone else, it makes me smile because I know it will make them smile too. SendOutCards has made a real difference in my life and relationships and it can do the same for you.
