The Signet Ring- Excerpt

By Kerri Kenyon –

The Signet Ring by Kerri Kenyon book cover imageWe are free to walk in our identity as the Signet Ring on the hand of God when we chose the journey we were created for; to know and glorify Him. Nothing else will ever fulfill us. Our relationship with Him matures when we commit to a life of worship and praise. It is in exalting and expressing gratitude to The One who created us that we come to know His character and see
Him at work in our lives.

Worship is exaltation and adoration we offer to God for who He is while praise is thanking and glorifying Him for what He has done for us. So, while it is important that we live in gratitude for the gifts, grace, and mercy He lavishes on us, we must remember our God covets the worship of His people as well. He calls us to lift up His name because He is worthy; apart from anything He does on our behalf. A proper understanding of what it means to be blessed allows us to worship The One who created us in Spirit and Truth.  It will cost us our comfort to live a life of worship. It will call us out of reacting to our circumstances and hardships and into accepting His will with unconditional gratitude. True worship is a tangible acknowledgment that He is enough, that He is truly all we need. When we reach this place of sincere worship we are released to operate in a whole new level of power. The enemy has no “handle” with which to rip us around or lie to us. Our focus stays on The One who created us and we are satisfied in Him. Nothing can be stolen from us when we live in this truth.

To be blessed is to be satisfied by His presence; worship is thanking Him for it. This distinction plays out in incredibly powerful ways in the spirit realm because there will be days that we don’t feel like praising Him. When we don’t get our way, when we are in pain, or when He seems far away we are tempted to forget we are blessed. It is then, by default, we tend to operate out of our emotions instead of the truth. However, when we worship Him for who He is, regardless of our circumstances, the powers of darkness are shoved back and we are free to claim our victory. It is there we live in the fullness of our identity as His Beloved.

Worship kills fear. It always takes our eyes off of ourselves and puts them on our creator. There is no room for pride or insecurity when we are looking to Him. Humility, in the form of worship causes us to recognize we cannot even stand in the place we find ourselves without The One who carried us there. Often, in worship we are compelled to lift up our hands in surrender to whatever He asks of us because we understand we have nothing, and can do nothing, apart from Him. True worship also helps us to see the story we are living in is really not about us, it is about Him. Ultimately, we were given a story so that we could give it back to Him. Our story is for His glory!

Our willingness to live lives of worship and praise serve as an excellent spiritual gauge for determining if we are truly walking in the full Zoë life of John 10:10 or if we are settling for “fig leaves” instead. We will either choose Jesus, worshiping and praising at His feet, or we will choose to hide in the garden of our shame. When is the last time you intentionally stopped and placed yourself at the feet of Jesus in humility and worship? When is the last time you chose to be grateful, in all things – through your pain, worries, trials, and suffering to praise Him? Remember, we can’t wait until we feel like it or until things go our way. We must choose to
worship Him for who He is and praise Him for what He has done. Regardless of how we feel, we are blessed by His presence.

Yes, worship and praise are among the most powerful weapons we wield in the spirit realm. When we are offering praise to our God we will always experience His freedom and peace. When we chose humility and gratitude we are operating in the fullness of our Heavenly
Father’s design for us. We are the light on the mountain, the salt of the earth, the Signet Ring on the hand of The King of kings. Never do we please Him more or shine more brightly than when we seek to bring Him glory through our worship and praise.

You deserve my praise; it’s on your altar. You own my glory; it’s at your feet.
You claimed my heart; it’s in your hands.
You are my life; I am set free.
