Daily Devotional – Your Actions Testify to Your Wisdom

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from James 3:13-18. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is evident through our actions. How we speak to others, how we treat others, and the actions that we make point to the Holy Spirit’s intervention in our lives!

“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15 Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Wisdom is displayed and evident.

I often hear people say that they will not judge others. As Christians, we are not called to be the tat-a-tale squad for the world. They ultimately do not want to be sold over and over again what they did wrong. We are not here as the body of Christ to condemn the world, but we are here to extend grace and love.

Actions of the wise will speak louder than the words of the lips. True wisdom comes from God, and He willingly bestows wisdom on those that seek and ask for it. Wisdom helps us to make decisions and act in a way that brings glory to God, and will not have us regret what we did the day before.

The selfishness of people drives our fleshly desires. We crave to fulfill our value, purpose, and pleasure on our terms, irrespective of the consequences experienced by others. This self-seeking, decision process leads to actions that cause disorder and upset. We can not share God’s love when we are trying to grab it all for ourselves!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You have called me to Yourself to be Yours. Give me today Your wisdom, so that my words, actions, and attitudes can be full of Your love. I throw aside my personal ambitions and desires, and want You to be glorified, so use me by Your Holy Spirit today!

In Jesus Name,
