Daily Devotional – Wisdom Walks Blameless

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 19:5-14. I have stood and watched people give false witness to events. The British have a wonderful saying “gobsmacked”! That is how I felt as I tried to pull my jaw off the ground.

“A false witness will not go unpunished,
    and whoever pours out lies will not go free.

Many curry favor with a ruler,
    and everyone is the friend of one who gives gifts.

fall scents for your home

The poor are shunned by all their relatives—
    how much more do their friends avoid them!
Though the poor pursue them with pleading,
    they are nowhere to be found.[a]

The one who gets wisdom loves life;
    the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.

A false witness will not go unpunished,
    and whoever pours out lies will perish.

10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury—
    how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!

11 A person’s wisdom yields patience;
    it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.

12 A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion,
    but his favor is like dew on the grass.

13 A foolish child is a father’s ruin,
    and a quarrelsome wife is like
    the constant dripping of a leaky roof.

14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents,
    but a prudent wife is from the Lord.”

Lies tend to entrap those speaking them

I was left speechless and could not believe that I was just a witness to all lies and deceit that I had seen. Taken aback, I couldn’t believe that someone could lie with such a straight face, and with no sign of remorse.

When the judge presented their verdict I was reminded of God’s truth. The facts and truth had shone out beyond the lies and deceit. While a person may think that their manipulation shall bear fruit, they perish by the snare that they set out for themselves.

God reminds us to walk blamelessly. Walking in wisdom and gaining wisdom will lead to joy and peace. We can love life as we walk in the goodness and mercy that go before us.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, for .protecting the blameless. Though others may attempt to perverse the truth, You are the one that leads and protects me. My hope and faith are in You, today and for everyday that may lie ahead.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
