Daily Devotional – Wisdom from Solomon

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Proverbs 10:1-9. Solomon has been commended as the wisest man for many generations. Given the choice of anything from God, he chose wisdom as his gift. Wisdom helped Solomon lead Israel and his wisdom provided for prosperous people.

The proverbs of Solomon:

A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

fall scents for your home

Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value,
    but righteousness delivers from death.

The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry,
but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

Lazy hands make for poverty,
    but diligent hands bring wealth.

He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son,
but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.[a]

The name of the righteous is used in blessings,[b]
but the name of the wicked will rot.

The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely,
but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”

Blessings crown the head of the righteous

The book of Proverbs is a great testament to the 2 different points of view. On the one hand, you have a wise choice, and on the other the consequence of the opposite choice. The choice is set before us, do we choose wisdom and the blessings that follow, or foolishness?

God tests and judges the heart of man. The motive and desire behind the action are what God tests and rewards. God will protect all of us that apply all that we have honestly toward our daily tasks. Though there are those that may wish to trick and manipulate our successes, place your hope in God your Father. God will bless you and fight on your behalf.

Everything will always come to light. Sometimes we may think that we can hide certain actions or activities. It will always be brought forth and made known. Then our names that we may have been so proud of will be scoffed at into rot.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, for Your wisdom. You have laid before me today, life, or death. Blessing or cursing. I choose life and blessing! Teach me your ways so that my righteousness will bring forth glory and honor for You.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
