Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Acts 2:42-47. God is building His church. He is carefully fitting each and every one of His children into the perfect place of His church. We are not individually the church, but stronger together.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
God builds a stronger church through relationships
The early church spent time together. Their time together was taken up with meals, stories, and most likely joking. In addition to their horizontal relationship building, they collectively strengthened a vertical relationship with the Almighty God.

The relationships of the early church were deep. They spent time in each other’s homes on a regular basis. They knew others and their intimate needs and wants. Knowing each other so intimately that they knew that selling their own possessions was not going to be in vain.
The gifts and sacrifices that each one made were purposeful and justified. Let us take the opportunity this year to grow deeper in our relationships. Only when the church is tightly knitted together are they strong!
