Daily Devotional – Repenting From Our Sins

daily devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Chronicles 7:11-16. Throughout the Bible we see people repenting from their sinful actions. With the free will that God has blessed us with comes the risk of us choosing sinful and perverse decisions.

“When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, 12 the Lord appeared to him at night and said:

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.

13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.”

Repenting from our past requires humility

Our core sin is selfishness. Selfishness leads to pride and self-righteousness. God has warned us throughout scripture about those that seek to serve themselves. For those that turn away from the truth and seek to bathe in the pleasures of this world, there will be wrath from God.

God’s kindness, love, and grace are there for us to see the blessing of choosing God’s Kingdom. We get to choose to submit our desires and will before God in honor of His majesty.

Repenting from our selfishness and sin will bring us so many more blessings than we can fathom. The freedom experienced from our burdens and life will bring such joy. Better than that is the inheritance that God has set aside for you in eternity.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father for always taking the lead in my life. I choose You and choose to yield myself to You and Your plans. Today, lead me and guide me as I surrender myself to Your will.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
