Daily Devotional – What is Truth

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 44:19-22. Our world seems to be stepping perilously towards a fork in the road. With technology, social media, and the general media filling our minds and ears with their own version of the truth. With all the noise, it is very easy to be crippled and wondering what the REAL truth is!

No one stops to think,

    no one has the knowledge or understanding to say,
“Half of it I used for fuel;
    I even baked bread over its coals,
    I roasted meat and I ate.
Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left?
    Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
20 Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him;
    he cannot save himself, or say,
    “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?”

21 “Remember these things, Jacob,
    for you, Israel, are my servant.
I have made you, you are my servant;
    Israel, I will not forget you.
22 I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
    your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,
    for I have redeemed you.”

“The single most important question any human being can ask is… “What is truth?” Ravi Zacharias

The 2020 election is being dubbed as one of extreme importance. We all wish to see our country, fellow countrymen, and communities thrive. We want jobs for those able to work and create a better life for themselves and their kids. A growing economy, but sometimes our methods might not match up.

As America heads to the polls, the noise will get louder and the “truths” claimed to seem more erroneous. We need to seek and be open to hearing pure truth. As the scripture from Isaiah says, “No one stops to think”.

Jesus said to place our faith in Him and to believe that He is the truth. The best way to find the truth is to follow the fruits. Look for fruits that match those of the Holy Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We will be delving into truth over the next couple of devotionals. We will set our minds and hearts to things above this world and deal with character and fruits. Knowing the truth about God and us we can more easily know the truth, and the truth will set us free.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came to earth to testify to the truth. You are the son of God, the way the truth, and the life. I find all that I need in You and I come before You today asking that You give me eyes to see the truth.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
