Daily Devotional – Nothing But the Truth

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 145:13-21. I swear to tell you the whole and nothing but the truth, or help me, God! We all know the pledge that witnesses give before they recount their side of the story.

“Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises
and faithful in all he does.[c]
14 The Lord upholds all who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food at the proper time.
16 You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

fall scents for your home

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
20 The Lord watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.
Let every creature praise his holy name
    forever and ever.

Truth is definitive and not objective

The scripture above speaks to how God is near those who call on Him in “truth”. We may be able to fool those around us while we attend a church service once a week, but we can not fool the all-seeing and Almighty God.

A witness tells what they saw and remember. They speak to what they believe to be the truth, even though what they say may not be the whole truth. We have a book that recounts the events of history and God’s words truthfully.

As uncomfortable as the truth may be and inappropriate for your goals, it is is still the truth. Our world is trying to convince us how gray the area of truth is, but God has laid out very clear and plain laws and decrees. While we may not always meet up to the desired expectations, we must never lose sight of what the truth really is!

In the armor that God has given us, the belt that holds it all together is truth. If what we believe is not true, then it all comes apart and unravels. We know that Jesus testified to the truth because He proved His words and love by His actions and miracles.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came to earth born to a virgin. You came from the Father full of grace and truth. You testified to the truth and helped us to see the light of God’s kingdom. Help me to see and know the truth from everything else.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
