Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 2:1-3. We live in a world that is demanding more and more from us. Adding technology has only exacerbated the condition since everyone now has access to you anywhere.
“Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”

God instructs us to rest!
We are driven to achieve and see our purpose materialize. While God’s word clearly warned us of a life of work and toil on this earth, sometimes we step beyond the veil of God’s provision. It is too easy to work towards the life that we desire.
There is always going to be something to do, some issue to resolve, or someone needing your attention. Stepping away and taking time to rest is a discipline. It takes setting up a boundary and limiting access to the world.
When we follow the word of God, we are told that God rested. He instituted a time to rest and recover from all the toil and work of day-to-day life. Rest is essential for our lives and as we build a long-term life for blessing God and those around us.
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Thank you Father that You take time to rest and have told me to do the same. Our rest gives us the opportunity to recover and find ourselves in You and Your presence. I ask that You give me Your rest today.
