Daily Devotional – Thankful for Victory

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Corinthians 15:50-58. We have the victory over all that we shall face side of heaven because of the blood of Jesus. The greatest consequence of sin has been removed, as we have life through Jesus.

“I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[h]

55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”[i]

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Jesus’ victory is our victory

We have inherited the blessing and victory of Jesus’ death on the cross. Not through anything and any effort of ours, we have victory.

Consider the worst punishment that you could endure. While we may imagine many horrid tortures, there is nothing that drains our beings and souls other than being outside of the presence of God.

Living in a world filled with God’s presence, we experience and feel Him everywhere that we turn. If we were taken outside of the vacuum filled by the Holy Spirit, our minds, souls, and hearts would break with pain never imagined. The loss of God’s presence would have us losing everything that gives us life.

Let us give thanks at this time for God has secured the victory. As His children, we live under the wing of His glory and victory.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You have secured the victory for me over sin and death. I receive life and joy because of You and Your victory on the cross. Help me to live under the protection of Your loving kindness and protection.

In Jesus’ Name,
