Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Galatians 2: 17-21. I surrender all that I have, all that I am so that God may have His way. He may lead and have His way in my life and through my life for His glory!
“But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker.
19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
Lord have Your way
One of the biggest lies that we are told by the evil one is that we can earn our justification. We can be good enough and through our actions and deeds to justify our salvation. The heart knows that we have freely received salvation from Jesus’ blood on the cross. Our heads though want to scheme a way to get the pat on the back.
We are crucified with Jesus. The picture of the baptism is that we die to our selves and our past lives, to rise and live a new life through Jesus. To live our new life requires us to leave all our own actions, thoughts, and desires behind. In order to know God more and more intimately, we need to fully surrender everything.
We are not to be back seat drivers, rather we need to place ourselves in the trailer behind the driver’s vehicle. Our surrender to God speaks of our faith and trust in God.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, God, that You have done everything on the cross for me. There is nothing for me to do but just surrender before You. Today I ask that You take the lead completely. I want to surrender all that I have and am before You.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
