Daily Devotional – Then Sings My Soul

daily edvotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Psalm 19:1-9. After seeking God, I found the greatest treasure known to man, and my soul wants to sing out loud! I will sing and shout out loud because of the good news that I have been released from all that has held me captive.

“The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
    It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
    like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
    and makes its circuit to the other;
    nothing is deprived of its warmth.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
    giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
    and all of them are righteous.”

Jesus has removed ALL things that enslave me!

As a former professional athlete, I know what it is to submit myself to one that would drive me beyond what I thought was possible. I suffered willingly for the greater purpose, enslaving myself to strict diets, workout regimes, and training.

Contrary to the ways of the world where hard work and sweat earn rewards, Jesus did all the work and suffered on the cross. Jesus suffered so that I did not need to put myself through the challenges and difficulties to earn salvation. The salvation needed is something beyond the ability of all humans who are enslaved and cuffed to sin because of Adam.

The good news is that we are free. Not because of anything that we have done, but because of the one that hung on the cross for us. The blood of Jesus has relieved you and I from the requirements to receive salvation. That is good news! So let our sing from the bottom of our souls out toward heaven and the worthy Lamb of God!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You hung on the cross with all my sins and debts. Too much for me to overcome, You took it upon Yourself to make a way for me to enter Your presence. Today I thank You for the salvation that You have offered me.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
