Daily Devotional – Only We Separate Ourselves From God

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Romans 8:31-39. God has chased after His creation from the very beginning. Making a way to redeem and demonstrate His love towards us. God has spared nothing to make the way wide open, it is now on us to follow His way.

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[j]

fall scents for your home

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God crosses the divide from super to natural for us.

God lay very clearly before the Israelites the choice of life and death (Deuteronomy 30:19). One of my favorite movies gives the main character the choice, the red or blue pill! Life is about choices, and the success or struggles experienced are the consequences of the choices that we have made.

Before the death of Jesus on the cross, we were kept afar from God’s presence. Perhaps it was just religion that didn’t allow the “normal” person from approaching God, but the Israelites were frightened of going into the Holy of Holies.

Since we live life in the time following the death of Jesus, we all have nothing standing in the way of us experiencing God how we choose. We have the choice to spend 24 hours a day in the presence of God, or the choice to fill our minds and time with the desires of our flesh. Let us take advantage of the opportunity and draw closer to the throne of the one who loves us more than we could ever imagine!

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You removed all barriers that stood between us. I choose You, and I desire to be immersed in Your presence today like never before. Come Holy Spirit and bring the presence of the Almighty into every facet of my life today!

In Jesus Name,

Amen
