Daily Devotional – Seeking God’s Kingdom First

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 13:37-46. Money is a measure created by humans, and in the digital age, it is just numbers on a screen. Money is like a mist evading us just when we think that we have it. I have the best treasure, that money can not buy at all!

“He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl

44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

The greatest treasure and reward to come.

Do you seek God and His Kingdom first? From the first words written in the Bible, God has called us to Him and to put Him first. He has reminded us that no one or nothing should be of greater importance to us than Him. Jesus put it on our level. Finding God is like finding a lost treasure that everyone is looking for!

With holes in our souls that only God can fulfill, everyone is searching for God, the greatest treasure of all. Some people ignore the tug in their hearts to seek out other people or things to fill that hole. They are constantly disappointed, only God can fill that space that he created us with.

When we do not see the value and treasure in God and His position, our lives become destructive. When we do not see the value and treasure in God and His position, all of our priorities and actions will be selfish and self-serving. Let us seek after God and His Kingdom with all our strength and resources. Finding God truly is worth it!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Jesus, that You came after me making it easy to receive your salvation. I choose to chase after You knowing that You are not like a vapor. Your riches and treasure are life-sustaining and fulfilling. I search for You as I place You first and above all else today.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
