Daily Devotional – Seek God Through Prayer

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Chronicles 16:7-18. God, our Father in heaven has far greater love and attention towards us than any earthly father. Not only does He provide for us, but He craves our fellowship.

That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner:

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
10 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
11 Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

12 Remember the wonders he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
13 you his servants, the descendants of Israel,
    his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
14 He is the Lord our God;
    his judgments are in all the earth.

15 He remembers[c] his covenant forever,
    the promise he made, for a thousand generations,
16 the covenant he made with Abraham,
    the oath he swore to Isaac.
17 He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree,
    to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
18 “To you I will give the land of Canaan
    as the portion you will inherit.”

Those that we spend more time with, have more impact and influence on our lives. Over time we naturally gravitate to similarities and quirks. We may start to sound the same when we speak or do things the same way. Very slowly we begin to be more and more alike.

It is, therefore, more important than ever to be found in the presence of God. Seeking God in prayer is the perfect opportunity for us to become more like Him and Jesus. The more that we are in the presence of Jesus, the more that we will have His thoughts and feelings to situations and people around us.

Let us not become overwhelmed by the task, but get lost in our Father’s presence. Today, do not focus on the amount of time but let us take some time with the one that longs for our presence.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You desire to have me close to You. It is mindblowing that the creator and Lord of all, calls me to Your throne and embrace. I submit myself and draw nearer to You today.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
