Daily Devotional – Seeds For Growing

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Corinthians 3: 5-15Let us sow seeds and water them. Let us take up our family responsibility and do what we can. We will not make the seed grow, that is God’s job and His responsibility, for only He can do that task!

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.”

fall scents for your home

God has provided us the seed to plant. He has provided a seed that has the potential to grow into great and strong work. This work will be able to withstand fire and the test. We are instructed by Paul to fulfill our responsibility and not that of others. Sow your seed, water someone else’s seed, but do what is needed.

God is the author and finisher of all. He is the one that can and will grow our tiny mustard seeds of faith into great and mighty trees and works. As much as we may want to take control and encourage the growth, that is God’s responsibility according to Paul.

For God’s glory, He will create a work that is more valuable than gold or silver. He will build His kingdom and His church on His foundation, Jesus Christ our redeemer and salvation.

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You the one that builds. You are not a far off god, rather You are an engaged God! You are active and building Your church. Use me as Your tool in preparing and building Your kingdom.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
