Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Philippians 4: 4-9. The word of God tells us that we simply have to have a change of mind. We can decide to allow only what is good, to take up residence within our thought life.

 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

It is a process, but you can stop your negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts; thoughts that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and good. You can throw out the negative and bring in the positive by following this one scripture. It will change your life and you will retrain your brain to think biblically. 

Practice this by guarding your thoughts for just one day. Write down your main thoughts. It may surprise you when you see those thoughts on paper. You may not have even realized how negative your thoughts have become. Oftentimes our thoughts lead us into our actions. When our actions are birthed out of our negative thoughts and emotions, the result will not be good.

Next, line those thoughts up with this scripture. As you begin to retrain your brain to think biblically, joy will begin to flow again. Let the word of God rule your thoughts and your heart and meditate on the good things that surround you day by day. In this, you will honor God.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please forgive me for focusing on the negative. Help me Lord to focus on what is lovely, pure, and true. Help me to focus on what is noble and of good report. I know that as I do, you will fill me with joy as I obey your word.
