Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Matthew 28:16-20. Having paid the debt of all mankind, Jesus stamped His authority over heaven and earth by awakening from death.
“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
All authority belongs to Jesus
The consequence of the first sin was death. It was a spiritual death living life apart from God, but also a physical death. From day 1 of life, while our bodies are growing, they are also withering away.
Our high priest in heaven has experienced death and can empathize with us with where we are. Facing the accusations Jesus didn’t flinch and He overcame death with one breath of life.
The good news is that our Lord conquered sin, death, and all principalities. The good news is that the Lord of all stands before us with His arms wide open. All that we need to do is accept His love and revel in His joy.
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Thank you Father that Jesus overcame everything leaving no stone unturned when He rose from death. Glory and honor to the name above all names, Jesus today and forever!
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
