Daily Devotional – Provision from Our Father

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Job 38:31-41. God is our provider and a good provider at that! He holds the world and the needs of every living creature on this planet within His hands, ensuring that each and every one of His creation is provided for.

“Can you bind the chains[b] of the Pleiades?
    Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
32 Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons[c]
or lead out the Bear[d] with its cubs?
33 Do you know the laws of the heavens?
Can you set up God’s[e] dominion over the earth?

34 “Can you raise your voice to the clouds
and cover yourself with a flood of water?
35 Do you send the lightning bolts on their way?
Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?
36 Who gives the ibis wisdom[f]
    or gives the rooster understanding?[g]
37 Who has the wisdom to count the clouds?
Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens
38 when the dust becomes hard
and the clods of earth stick together?

fall scents for your home

39 “Do you hunt the prey for the lioness
and satisfy the hunger of the lions
40 when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in a thicket?
41 Who provides food for the raven
when its young cry out to God
and wander about for lack of food?”

The God that provides for the birds is your Father!

In our scripture for the day, God’s words to Job are recorded. Job had reached the last of his strength and finally caved in. He questioned God and under whose authority God would allow for the pain and struggles that he was experiencing.

Have you ever called a company and their call center agent says, “I understand where you are coming from”? Well, that is the most insane verbiage that companies have created and policies that these poor people have to say. How can they understand? If anything it infuriates me even more that this company and person actually understands what I am going through.

I do not understand where Job was coming from. It is too easy to condemn and correct him about questioning God. I have been in situations in life where I have questioned God 100%. As the God who owns everything, Why wouldn’t He step into this situation and help?

God reminded Job of who He is in today’s scripture. Let me remind you today that no matter what situation you find yourself in, God is your provider. I do not understand the emotional and spiritual heartache that you are experiencing, but I have also seen God move mountains in my life. He WILL provide for you, and you can trust Him to do so!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Father, that You are all that I need. You provide for every need that I have, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Help me to see Your provision today in things that I might have over looked, so that I can strengthen my faith and trust in You.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
