Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Luke 10:17-24. Jesus’ death on the cross gave Him the authority over this world yet again. He has shared that authority with you and I, and we are able to perform many miracles on behalf of Jesus!
“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
23 Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
The greatest miracle and joy is our salvation!
We may marvel at the miracles, signs, and wonders, but Jesus’ warning is to not celebrate in this. As amazing as it is to watch and see God’s hand move in the physical world, we would be wrong to value it as more than our salvation.
The blood and sacrifice of Jesus bought and paid for our salvation. God tortured His son and Himself to release the bondage and grip of sin on His creation. Not just a select few but for every person who has ever, or ever will walk on this earth. Jesus’ sacrifice has paid for it all!
What an amazing message to share with everyone that we meet. We can be instrumental in bringing God’s Kingdom to this earth. We can tell those that we love and meet that Jesus died for them. Not because they have earned anything, but because He created them for Himself.
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, that sacrifice on the cross has paved the way for great authority. As Your hands and feet upon this earth, we are able to do signs and wonders on Your behalf to validate Your authority as the son of God!
In Jesus Name,
Amen
