Daily Devotional – Praise the Prince of Peace

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Isaiah 9:2-7. One of the aspects that all people strive for in life is peace. We all desire that for nirvana, where life is all as we would hope for it to be.

“The people walking in darkness
    have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
    a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation
    and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
    when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,
    you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
    the bar across their shoulders,
    the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
    there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
    with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.”

A peace that will never end.

Throughout history, it is well documented that when God rules and reigns peace reigns too. When people have submitted their will and lives to the law and leadership of God, God ushers in His peace. Living within the provision of the one that owns it all, abundance and blessings touch each one.

It is also well documented what happens when we try to replace God as the one in control and in charge! We make awful gods and our pride rises before all and every fall.

We need to humble ourselves before the Prince of Peace. Humble yourselves by praising and worshipping God. As we praise His name, we magnify Him, so that all that we see is God. Everything that we see is through the lens of God, and the miracles that He continues to perform each day.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You alone are worthy of praise and worship. I humble myself before You acknowledging that I need Your leadership, guidance, and peace in my life. Lead me by Your Holy Spirit today so that I can follow in Your peaceful wake.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
