Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from John 14:6-14. What truth do you stand on? I know that as for me and my household, that we will stand on the rock of Jesus as our truth. The question of who Jesus is is so important.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 1
2 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
The sacrifice needed to be one of value
There is a whole month-long conversation to “Who is Jesus?” We will discuss 3 important truths for you to pray about.
- Jesus is the way! Although the greatest sign of love for another is to lay down our lives for them, not every death and sacrifice is equal. God needed a sacrifice worthy of blotting out the sin of the world. Only the pure blood of God Himself would do. If Jesus was not the son of God then His sacrifice would not have been enough.
- Jesus is the truth! Jesus spoke the truth and His words and promises are worth staking our lives on. With Jesus’ words speaking and demonstrating God’s love for us, we can be confident that God desires to be close to us, His creation.
- Jesus is life! All demons, spirits, and even the seas obeyed the voice and commands of Jesus. Jesus spoke life into Lazarus and He speaks life into you today. No matter what you face, Jesus is the God of life. Darkness and death have to flee in His presence!
Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you, Jesus, that You came to earth. I believe and place my hope in Your words. You are the son of God and I am saved by Your name. May all that I do today, bring You glory and honor as the King of all kings!
In Jesus Name,
Amen
