Daily Devotional – Open My Eyes to Your Work

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Kings 6:15-19. What do you think you would see if God pulled back the curtain hiding the spiritual world? The question is really how do you think you would appear as opposed to how you truly are?

When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.

16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked.

19 Elisha told them, “This is not the road and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for.” And he led them to Samaria.”

Open my eyes to give me a better understanding.

If we took the time to look around not just to smell the roses, we would get to see the truth and reality. We are trained by society to just see the here and now, so few get to see beyond the physical limitations. While we struggle and fight day in and day out, there is a greater battle waging in the heavenly realms.

When we stop to open our eyes, we will also get to see our heavenly Father and Lord for who He truly is. We will have the privilege to look upon the holy God and worship Him for who He is.

If we earnestly seek to see our Father, we need to knock and seek. Jesus said that those that knock and continue knocking will have the door opened. Let us look to Him today and take the time to see what is around us.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you Father that You answer those that ask. Open my eyes today so that I can see You and worship You in truth. I crave and desire to see You today.

In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
