Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 2 Kings 4:31-37. Our Father is in the business of restoring and bringing to life that which has been discarded. While the cancer of sin grows throughout the world, let us be the example of life and love.
“Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, “The boy has not awakened.”
32 When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch. 33 He went in, shut the door on the two of them and prayed to the Lord. 34 Then he got on the bed and lay on the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands. As he stretched himself out on him, the boy’s body grew warm. 35 Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.
36 Elisha summoned Gehazi and said, “Call the Shunammite.” And he did. When she came, he said, “Take your son.” 37 She came in, fell at his feet and bowed to the ground. Then she took her son and went out.”
God is bringing His church to life!
There are many occasions where God has intervened in the physical world miraculously to bring those from death to life. This is because our Father is so often moved to action by His compassion and love for His children.
While we can easily see the physical death and the need for life, what about spiritual and emotional death? God desires that His children and church be revived to live lives full of love and passion. Just like Elisha brought this young man to life, God can bring us forth into a life where we thrive.
We need to wait on God to breathe His breath of life into our hearts. Let us place our faith in our Father to bring us to life again to live a life that brings glory and honor to Him!
Let’s Pray
Dear Father,
Thank you for being the source of life. I come before You today and ask that You bring forth life from my dead bones. Breathe Your life into me today for Your glory.
