Daily Devotional – Miracles of the Bible 15

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 Kings 17:13-17. When Jesus walked this earth, He warned His disciples and those that would follow, that life would be filled with hardships. The challenges and difficulties we face will leave us feeling worn out and tired.

“Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”

15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. 16 For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

17 Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.

God will revive and restore us

God is our source and provider. Everything that we have is from our heavenly Father who loves and cares for us. Just as God miraculously provided the flour and oil for Elijah and the widow, God is able to provide for our needs.

Sometimes in our lives, we do not see the miracles of God. It may be because we are hard of sight and hearing, or it may be because we do not wish to receive. We often can not humble ourselves enough to receive help and miracles. Instead, we fight on in our own strength.

If there is one thing that God has promised us in His word, it is that He will always provide for us! Let us take a step towards His open arms and relinquish our control and watch Him work miracles in our lives.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for being my provider. You provide more than just my physical needs, but also more importantly provide my salvation and spiritual needs too! Today I look to You as my provider rather my talents, skills and efforts.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
