Daily Devotional – Miracles of the Bible 11

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Joshua 10:9-15. God’s power surpasses the natural realm and our ideas. God has created the universe from nothing and is able to do so much more than we could conceive or ask.

“After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. 10 The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah. 11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.

12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel:

fall scents for your home

“Sun, stand still over Gibeon,
and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
13 So the sun stood still,
    and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on[b] its enemies,

as it is written in the Book of Jashar.

The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel!

15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.”

Why do we limit God by our prayers?

If you won the lottery and claimed the $500 million prize, would your life start to look different? With all the resources available to you, what would you do? The real question though is what you wouldn’t do! Since you could buy almost anything, or create almost anything, what would you do?

In Psalms, it eludes to our God as the Lord of a thousand hills. With all that lives upon and within these hills belonging to Him, your Father has more resources than you could grasp and imagine.

If our Father, our provider, and the one that gives us His dreams, is the giver, then why do we fret? God will provide and give us all that is needed from His vast treasures. Let us channel our thoughts, faith, and hope into all that God is, trusting that He with all His resources is able and willing to provide.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You are the creator and ruler of all that I can see or know. As I come into Your big house today, remind me of who You are and give me your strength by Your Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
