Daily Devotional – Miracles of the Bible 1

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Genesis 1:1-12. Miracles are all around us. Sometimes we can not see the miracles of everyday life because we have become numb to all that is around us.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

The first recorded miracle

Without the first miracle, none of the rest would have followed. We take for granted that God actually even created this all. Within our sinful nature, we seem to expect that we are justifiably created.

Sin perverts and distorts the truth. It reverses the role between us and our creator. We tend to place ourselves in the king role and make our Father the servant. Through the lens of sin, the created wants to dictate the rules to the creator.

Let us be reminded today that without God creating this world, universe, and us, nothing that we experience would be possible. Consider the awe and power on display by the living God today. Worship and consider how majestic He is today, yesterday, and forever.

Let’s Pray

Dear Father,

Thank you that You have created not only the world and universe but that You created me too. I get to experience life and all that it brings because You, the creator, created me!

In Jesus’s Name,

Amen
