Daily Devotional – How You Are Loved

Daily Devotional

Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from 1 John 3: 1-6. To know a love greater than the love of one’s life is miraculous. We get to experience the love of God each day because His love for us was more valuable than Jesus’ life.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.”

You have been loved

I was recently speaking with my girls about the meaning behind the words “I love you.” Fortunately, they live in a house that these three words are used regularly. However, I was pondering what these words meant to them. Did the meaning and intention get through to their hearts?

I have often heard from people how they do not see God’s love for them. They struggle with the tangible reality of love from their Father and creator. Sometimes the received message was not as it was intended. Rather our own insecurities and judgments taint the intended message.

God has very clearly displayed His love for us.

One characteristic of love is placing the needs of the recipient above the desires of the giver. This points to sacrifice. Jesus has the wounds to validate and clarify His sacrifice for all of us. If you wondering about God’s love and commitment to you, look to the cross and receive it!

Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, God, that You first took the step to show your love for us. I do not need to question or wonder about Your love. If I never see another miracle in my life, I can know that You love and cherish me. You died before I even knew that I was a sinner. Died out of love because You knew that I would never attain it. You died to restore our relationship, so help me today to live in your present.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
